Then, a series of video Challenges ask students to represent numbers and solve problems using a set of magnetic measurement bars on a whiteboard or using the online interactive Number Line Measurement Tool.
Video Challenges built into the Number Line Measurement Tool
Teachers can facilitate the Number Line Talks by clicking on the link for each Video Challenge. The challenge is pre-loaded into the NLMT so that students can drag, drop, and snap bars to tick marks or other bars to measure, represent, and calculate on the number line.

Teachers can facilitate the Number Line Talks using the foam measurement bar kit from Essential Math Concepts. Or they can download a printable set of measurement bars and adhere cut-out strips of adhesive magnets to the back of each measurement bar.

Number Line Practice Pages can be assigned as additional practice or used to structure differentiated instruction for specific students. These pages challenge students to extend measurement bar strategies to a paper-and-pencil problems.
